Project brief

As part of a major redevelopment, Freemen’s School, a Leading Independent Co-educational Day & Boarding School, contracted Re-Gen to construct a new full catering kitchen and associated dining facilities, along with refurbishment of offices and other student buildings. The works included major groundworks, drainage and services adaptions and new mains / statutory installations, design and build of the new M&E services and final fit-out. Once installed, the works were finished in line with strict planning requirements using bespoke cedar wood panelling, concrete retaining walls and glass canopies.

The project had several key challenges including the logistics of constructing the works in a live school environment requiring careful planning of key tasks such as deliveries and craneage.

The time factor was also key as the works were an integral part of the main school building redevelopment. To ensure that the strict time frames were met, Re-Gen worked closely with the school particularly around term times and exams.
