Project brief

Re-Gen were appointed as the main contractor for major conversion and alteration works at Willow House in Barnet. In 2018 the building had suffered a fire in the top storey and roof, significant damage had been caused to all areas. The building was then left to the elements for several months before Re-Gen were appointed to start the works. The works encompassed external repairs and replacement of brick work, and the refurbishment and redecorations of the interiors like for like. These works included new windows, kitchens, bathrooms and floorings. Alterations were made to the lay outs as per the designer’s specification.

The first day on site, our team began to remove the extensive amounts of debris left over from the fire. As some of the resident’s goods were still in the properties, it took time to go through each room and remove carefully. All property was set aside, labelled, and stored for the residents to collect. We managed to completely clear all areas without any disturbance to the neighbouring properties. Following this, we secured the building, put in place a temporary roof to protect the building and readied the site for the decontamination works and a drying out period. Once the drying out process had been completed, we were given the all clear to attend site and begin the structural construction works. This phase work included reconstruction of above eaves partition walls and chimneys. Alterations were made to the existing structure. The pitched roof timber framing went up as per the structural engineer’s bespoke drawings. The loft timber framing was constructed and the loft deck. The works encompassed external repairs and replacement of brick work, and the refurbishment and redecorations of the interiors like for like. These works included new windows, kitchens, bathrooms and floorings. Alterations were made to the lay outs as per the designer’s specification.
